CINDERELLA, CINDERELLA

If you're still looking for your last minute Halloween costume then stop right here, because I have the answer for you! Here's a simple way to pull off your my favorite Disney princess! Cinderella has always been my favorite princess! When I was younger it was because she got the "fairy tale". Now that I'm older it's the way she served others until her time to shine came. Cinderella has lots of good life lessons so don't even get me started!:)

For work this year we all decided to be a different Disney princess so I took it as my opportunity to take on my princess. I knew I didn't want a ball gown or your typically costume. I wanted to be your modern day Cinderella. Plus it was a total excuse to buy a cute new dress that "you can totally wear again". I found this light blue number at Target. It is from the Phillip Lim 3.1 collection, which who really needs an excuse to buy something from this collection, obsessed! Then I headed to a Halloween store to grab up some opera gloves and a crown. Throw on some black ribbon for a necklace and your favorite sparkly shoes and you are set! Also it's hard to tell but for my "Cinderella hair" I just threw mine up in a top knot...worked like a dream.

So what are you waiting on?! It's easy, simple, and most importantly cheap! I expect to see all of you dressed up this year!!:)

NEW SEASON

New season means new fashion which makes me VERY excited!!!:) Now is the time to step out of your box and try something new. It can be as simple as a headband (seen below) or as drastic and being bold and going for that fur vest your secretly craving! Be bold and take a fashion risk. That's all fashion is anyway, taking a chance and praying it works out!;) And hey if not there's always another day! You only get one shot at this life why not be a risk taker!!

SLIENCE NO MORE

Hello friends! I know it has been awhile...again. Please don't leave just yet. I don't know if you have ever experienced anything in your life where there was just something so much more important than everything you were doing before that, that it consumes you and opens new doors!? But that's what has been going on lately for me. As you all know I love my Basement family and over the past month there has been injustice happening to a family member and it has caused all of us to re-evaluate things, changes things, and grow together as a stronger unit. I am not going to go into full detail here as I was not a first hand witness in the situation, although many of my friends were. I STRONGLY encourage you to educate yourself on this matter as this injustice will affect us all. You can find out all of the facts and accusations HERE! The simple run down is that a man is being held in jail (for two months now) without bond on an accusation. I don't understand how in this day and time you can strip a man of his legal and constitutional rights of innocent until proven guilty. But again I won't get into all that;) What I will do is share is briefly MY story.......

I began attending the Basement in January 2008. I was a student at the University of Alabama and had heard about the Basement through one of their ministries they helped start on campus. I remember meeting girls who hugged and loved on me and told me I was pretty with no agenda. I was immediately accept and apart. It was something unlike anything I had ever seen....and growing up in church I have seen a lot. When walking into worship and seeing the passion coming from Matt as he shared his story was amazing....

Over the past 5 1/2 years I was watched week after week as Matt has poured out his life so that others may gain theirs. He continues to be the most selfless person and always makes the most of every situation. (Have I mentioned he is winning people to the Lord in JAIL?!!)
I have no fear of the future because I know who holds mine. I also know that under the leadership of Matt Pitt, the Basement will redeem history. I am so excited about what's to come. Even more so, I'm so very thankful to have Matt as my leader and hero.
